PHNOM PENH, Nov. 17 (Xinhua) -- Cambodia's anti-drug police have arrested two people in possession of more than three kg of drugs, the National Police reported on Tuesday.

The two males suspected of drug trafficking were a 22-year-old Cambodian national and a 16-year-old Vietnamese. They were caught at a market in the Russey Keo district of the Cambodian capital Phnom Penh on Saturday during a raid by the anti-drug police in cooperation with the Phnom Penh municipal police.

"A total of 3.14 kg of crystal methamphetamine was seized from the suspects," the National Police said on its website.

Cambodia has no death sentence to punish drug traffickers. Under its law, a person found guilty of trafficking more than 80 grams of drugs can face life imprisonment.

According to the anti-drug police authorities, the southeastern Asian country nabbed 15,770 drug trafficking suspects, including 224 foreign nationals, in the first nine months of this year, seizing some 702 kg of drugs. Enditem
