MONTEVIDEO, Nov. 17 (Xinhua) -- Arthur and Richarlison scored first-half goals as Brazil kept intact their unblemished 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifying record with a 2-0 win over Uruguay here on Tuesday.

Juventus midfielder Arthur struck in the 34th minute with a long-range effort that flew into the bottom left corner after taking a deflection.

The hosts netted again on the stroke of half-time when Richarlison met a Renan Lodi cross with a glancing header that beat goalkeeper Martin Campana at his far post.

Uruguay grew increasingly frustrated at their inability to breach Brazil's defense. They were made to pay for their indiscipline when Edinson Cavani was shown a straight red card for a dangerous stomp on Richarlison's left foot following a review by the video assistant referee.

Brazil lead the 10-team South American zone standings, having won all four of their qualifiers to date. Uruguay dropped to fifth with two wins and two losses. Enditem
