LIMA, Nov. 17 (Xinhua) -- Nicolas Gonzalez and Lautaro Martinez scored first-half goals as Argentina continued their unbeaten run with a 2-0 win away to Peru in their 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifier here on Tuesday.

Stuttgart winger Gonzalez set the visitors on their way by taking one touch to beat his marker before angling a powerful left-footed shot past goalkeeper Pedro Gallese.

Inter Milan striker Martinez then latched onto a perfectly weighted Leandro Paredes through ball and rounded Gallese before firing a left-footed shot into an unguarded net.

The result left Argentina second in the 10-team South American zone standings with three wins and a draw from their four matches so far. Peru dropped to ninth with a draw and three losses.

In other matches on Tuesday, Ecuador beat Colombia 6-1 in Quito, Venezuela overcame Chile 2-1 in Caracas, Paraguay and Bolivia drew 2-2 in Asuncion, and Brazil defeated Uruguay 2-0 in Montevideo. Enditem
