JERUSALEM, Nov. 18 (Xinhua) -- Bahraini Foreign Minister Abdullatif Al Zayani arrived in Israel on Wednesday morning, in Bahrain's first government visit to Israel, following a normalization agreement signed in September.
The delegation landed at Ben Gurion Airport outside Tel Aviv.
Al Zayani has scheduled meetings with Israeli President Reuven Rivlin and later with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
He will also attend a trilateral meeting with Netanyahu and U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo. Local Israeli media reported that the three will discuss Netanyahu's request to open a Bahraini embassy in Israel.
Bahrain and the United Arab Emirates are the first Gulf states to establish formal diplomatic relations with Israel. Enditem
