JERUSALEM, Nov. 18 (Xinhua) -- Israel reopened the tourist areas in the Dead Sea and the southernmost resort city of Eilat on Wednesday, two months after a full lockdown over the COVID-19 concerns in the country, the Israeli Ministry of Tourism said.
The two tourist sites were reopened following a decision taken by the Israeli Corona Cabinet to declare them "green" in order to prevent the collapse of the tourism industry.
Tourists will be allowed to enter Eilat, which lies on the shores of the Red Sea, and the tourist area of Ein Bokek at the Dead Sea, only by presenting a negative result of a coronavirus test, taken up to 72 hours before entry.
This restriction also applies to tourists who come to these places for a one-day vacation without accommodation.
Residents and workers of Eilat and the Dead Sea area will be allowed to enter only with a negative result of a test taken up to a week before entry.
Employees and residents will also be given the option of taking a free rapid test at the entrances to these areas.
Hotels will be allowed to open dining rooms, pools and prayer areas for the use of their guests only. Enditem
