Afghanistan reports 243 new COVID-19 cases, 43,924 in total

KABUL, Nov. 18 (Xinhua) -- Afghanistan on Wednesday reported 243 newly confirmed COVID-19 cases after health authorities conducted 1,201 tests within a day, bringing the number of total cases to 43,924, the country's Ministry of Public Health said.

During the past 24 hours, 243 positive cases were recorded in 10 out of Afghanistan's 34 provinces, the ministry said in a statement.

Up to 1,645 deaths have been recorded, an increase of seven within the past 24 hours.

Out of the total infected people, 35,295 patients have recovered, including 135 who showed improvement and were discharged from hospitals since early Tuesday.

Laboratories across Afghanistan have completed 132,980 tests since February. Enditem
