(ZhejiangPictorial) "Embroidery on stone": Qingtian stone carving in east China

HANGZHOU, Nov. 21, 2020 (Xinhua) -- The Qingtian stone carving, originated in Qingtian County of east China's Zhejiang Province, is reputed as "embroidery on stone" with its beautiful modeling and refined craftsmanship, and has been loved by people during its thousands of years of history. It was listed in the first batch of China's national intangible cultural heritage in 2016.

In recent years, Qingtian County has been vigorously promoting the cultural industry of stone carving. It also makes comprehensive efforts to further boost the prestige of the Qingtian stone carving at home and abroad, trying to increase the overall competitiveness of the cultural industry. So far, Qingtian County has more than 20,000 practitioners engaging in the stone carving industry, and over 4,000 professional stone carving artists, including 8 national level and 49 provincial level masters of arts and crafts.
