Malaysia reports 1,041 new COVID-19 cases, 3 more deaths

KUALA LUMPUR, Nov. 21 (Xinhua) -- Malaysia reported 1,041 new COVID-19 infections, the Health Ministry said on Saturday, bringing the national total to 53,679.

Health Ministry Director-General Noor Hisham Abdullah said in a press statement that two of the new cases are imported and 1,039 were local transmissions.

Out of the new cases, 402 were reported in Selangor state.

Three more deaths have been reported, bringing the death toll to 332.

Another 1,405 patients have been released after recovery, bringing the total number of cured and discharged to 40,493, or 75.4 percent of all cases.

Of the remaining 12,854 active cases, 108 are being held in intensive care and 45 of those are in need of assisted breathing. Enditem
