BUENOS AIRES, Nov. 22 (Xinhua) -- Argentine President Alberto Fernandez ratified the country's commitment to comprehensive and sustainable development on Sunday at the G20 Riyadh Summit, the office of the president reported.

During his presentation, Fernandez said that "Argentina is committed to a just transition agenda towards integral and sustainable development," urging for "a collective commitment to achieve the prompt and effective implementation of the Paris Agreement."

"Today the health, economic and social effects" of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) are added "to the global challenges we were facing, such as climate change, the asymmetries between central and peripheral countries, and the social inequality suffered by Latin America and other continents," said the Argentine president.

He added that COVID-19 has "aggravated the world food crisis," and that Argentina is committed to "alleviating that situation."

"Our policies are aimed at increasing agricultural productive potential in all regions of the country," he said, adding that an "open and transparent agricultural trade" is "essential to end hunger." Enditem
