Shaxian delicacies, originating in Shaxian County in eastern China's Fujian Province, gain popularity as locals traveling afar set up family-run outlets across the country. According to local officials, there are over 80,000 restaurants serving Shaxian delicacies nationwide with the output value of the industry exceeding 10 billion yuan (about 1.52 billion USD). In order to promote the local delicacies, Shaxian County has focused on brand promotion and standardized management. For decades, the government of Shaxian County has offered management and manufacturing training for local people, provided 532-million-yuan (about 80 million USD) loan for start-ups. The Shaxian delicacies have gained popularity not only in China, but also in foreign countries, such as the United States, Japan, Portugal.
