ULAN BATOR, Dec. 3 (Xinhua) -- Mongolia will launch a campaign to test at least one member of each household in its capital city here for the COVID-19 virus, the country's State Emergency Commission said Thursday.

The campaign dubbed "One Citizen-One Household" is expected to last from Dec. 4 to 11.

Home to more than 1.4 million people, Ulan Bator has more than 410,000 households, according to the country's National Statistics Office.

As of Thursday, Mongolia has reported 819 COVID-19 cases, including 387 locally transmitted cases. More than half of the confirmed cases in the country are asymptomatic, the country's National Center for Communicable Diseases said.

The Asian country's nationwide lockdown, imposed on Nov. 12 to halt the spread of the virus and conduct contact tracing, expired on Tuesday.

However, the Mongolian government has extended the lockdown in Ulan Bator and the provinces of Selenge and Arkhangai until Dec. 11. Enditem
