WINDHOEK, Dec. 4 (Xinhua) -- The Namibia Football Association (NFA) Women's Super Cup (WSC) was officially launched on Thursday at the NFA Girls Center after a 3-year break.

The cup, funded by FIFA and the NFA, will see 12 teams battle it out over six weekends, with the 7th weekend expected to accommodate the final on Feb. 27, 2021.

NFA Women Super League (WSL) executive member, Diina Shitula encouraged the participants to use the competition as a platform to physically and mentally prepare for competitions like the 2021 COSAFA Women Cup.

"I would like to thank FIFA for continuously investing in women's football. We can not do it without financial support for the association in always making sure the girls get game time," Shitula said.

The competition was last played in 2017 and saw Khomas Nampol lift the cup. At the time, the 10 teams of the Skorpion Zinc NFA WSL competed among each other for top honors.

Since then two new teams, Ramblers Football Club and Walvis Bay-based Arrows Ladies, have joined the league. Enditem
