COLOMBO, Dec. 16 (Xinhua) -- Sri Lanka's cabinet of ministers has approved to host the summit of the Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectoral Technical and Economic Cooperation (BIMSTEC) next year, the local Daily News reported here Wednesday.
The BIMSTEC groups seven nations of South Asia and Southeast Asia including Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Myanmar, Nepal, Sri Lanka and Thailand.
The summit was previously scheduled for January 2020, but was postponed amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
The last BIMSTEC summit was held in Nepal in August 2017. Enditem
