BRATISLAVA, Dec. 17 (Xinhua) -- The last round of 2020 in the Slovak football premiership Fortuna Liga saw Bratislava stretch its lead to five points, beating Zilina 3-2.
In the most attractive match-up of the 18th round between the first and third, Slovan Bratislava emerged victorious after its Brazilian striker Rafael Ratao rammed a dagger through Zilina's heart in the 94th minute at 2-2.
Second-ranked Dunajska Streda FC finished this year's portion of the season - the best in its history as it gained 39 points so far - with a 2-0 victory over Senica.
The most productive player of the entire league, the home team's Hungarian striker Zsolt Kalmar opened the score against Senica after the Romanian substitute Ion Nicolaescu took the ball deep on the right-wing and sent a back pass to Marko Divkovic, who let it continue untouched to the unguarded Kalmar. He had no trouble scoring into the open net in the 51st minute.
20 minutes later, Nicolaescu finished the visitors off with a long shot that brushed one of the defenders.
Elsewhere, Nitra FC lost its fourth match out of the last five and will spend the winter break in eighth place after a promising start into the season that shot it to the third spot two months back.
The 2-1 victory puts its opponent from Trencin only a single point behind Nitra.
The clash between tenth Michalovce and sixth Ruzomberok turned into a seven-goal shootout.
The visiting team's midfielder Martin Regali experienced one of the best first halves of his career, scoring a hat-trick and putting his team ahead 3-2 before the first whistle.
Michalovce managed to tie things up just three minutes into the second half on a penalty. Nigerian striker Abdulrahman Taiwo completed the turnaround in the 74th minute, bringing his team the first-ever victory over Ruzomberok since joining Slovakia's football premiership. It took Michchalovce 18 tries to defeat Ruzomberok. Enditem
