Malaysia's natural rubber production down 14.8 pct in November 2020

KUALA LUMPUR, Jan. 15 (Xinhua) -- Malaysia's natural rubber production decreased 14.8 percent in November 2020 to 42,554 tonnes as compared to 49,943 tonnes in the previous month, official data showed Friday.

Malaysian Statistics Department said in a statement, on a year-on-year basis, the production also fell 19.7 percent.

Exports of Malaysia's natural rubber rose 3.7 percent month on month to 56,522 tonnes in November 2020.

China remained the main destination for natural rubber exports, accounting for 57.8 percent of total exports in November 2020. This was followed by Germany (9.1 percent), Iran (5.1 percent), Finland (3.4 percent) and Turkey (3.4 percent).

Meanwhile, rubber gloves were the main export item with an export value 4.4 billion ringgit (1.09 billion U.S. dollars) in October 2020, an increase of 0.9 percent to RM4.5 billion in November 2020.

The United States, Germany and China were among the highest importers of rubber gloves, it said.

The stocks of natural rubber also increased 0.5 percent month on month to 259,440 tons in November 2020. Enditem
