Wuying Village suffers from harsh environment and low agricultural yields, making it one of the most impoverished counties in Guangxi. In the summer of 2020, Lan Shengkui, a retired agricultural expert in variety improvement from Liuzhou Agricultural Science Institute, has come up with red sorghum, a crop that has strong tolerance to drought and barren soil, and provided it to farmers in Wuying Village.
