RAMALLAH, Jan. 21 (Xinhua) -- Palestinian Prime Minister Mohammed Ishtaye on Thursday called on the international community to pressure Israel to allow holding the general Palestinian elections in East Jerusalem.

"We need an international pressure on the Israeli government to enable the Palestinians in East Jerusalem to join the general elections scheduled to start on May 22 under the signed agreements," Ishtaye said during a meeting held in Ramallah with Arab and international diplomats.

Ishtaye said that according to the signed agreements between Palestine and Israel, all the Palestinians in the West Bank, the Gaza Strip, and East Jerusalem have the right to race and vote in the elections. Enditem
