Kurdish militia continues siege on gov't areas in Syria's Hasakah

DAMASCUS, Jan. 24 (Xinhua) -- The Kurdish militia of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) continued its siege on government-controlled areas in Syria's northeastern province of Hasakah for the 11th straight day, state news agency SANA reported on Sunday.

The SDF is besieging the central part of Hasakah and preventing the entry of food aid and water tankers to the city, said SANA.

The Syrian government controls a few areas in Hasakah, including the airport of the city of Qamishli.

Recently, tension started brewing between both sides as the Syrian government has slammed in a statement the SDF due to their policies and the support they get from the U.S.. Enditem
