MOGADISHU, March 29 (Xinhua) -- At least four people were killed and three others injured in a roadside blast in the Somali capital on Monday, government officials confirmed.

Mahad Sharawe, Secretary of Daynile District told reporters that al-Shabab militants targeted his vehicle with a remote control explosive device near a police station in the Dayniile district administration, but he survived.

"The landmine was targeted at me but I survived. It hit my vehicle causing civilian casualties. I saw four dead people including a woman who was holding a baby on her chest and three others including one of my security guards," Sharawe told journalists at the scene.

The administrator said two of the three injured people have serious wounds, noting that the area was a very populated area.

"This is the fourth time al-Shabab militants have attacked me with such roadside bombs and this won't change the service we have for our community," he added.

No group has claimed responsibility for the latest attack in the restive city but al-Qaida allied terrorist group al-Shabab usually stages such attacks. Enditem
