Malaysia reports 1,638 new COVID-19 cases, 3 more deaths

KUALA LUMPUR, April 3 (Xinhua) -- Malaysia reported 1,638 new COVID-19 infections, the Health Ministry said on Saturday, bringing the national total to 349,610.

Health Ministry Director-General Noor Hisham Abdullah said in a press statement that seven of the new cases are imported and 1,631 are local transmissions.

Three more deaths have been reported, bringing the death toll to 1,286.

Another 1,449 patients have been released after recovery, bringing the total number of cured and discharged to 333,892 or 95.5 percent of all cases.

Of the remaining 14,432 active cases, 167 are being held in intensive care and 81 of those are in need of assisted breathing. Enditem
