Wang Shihua, writes a letter to her deceased husband Wang Jicai on Kaishan Island, east China's Jiangsu Province, March 30, 2021. Wang Jicai, who used to be head of the militia post on Kaishan Island in Jiangsu Province, started working on the island in the Yellow Sea with his wife in 1986. He died of sudden illness while on duty in July of 2018 at the age of 58. Ahead of the Qingming Festival, a traditional Chinese festival for people to sweep tombs to mourn the deceased and worship their ancestors and the martyrs, Wang Shihua came all the way to the island and wrote a special letter in remembrance of her husband, telling him the great changes that had happened on the island.
