BEIJING, April 25 (Xinhua) -- Japanese animation film "Detective Conan: The Scarlet Bullet" on Saturday continued to lead the Chinese mainland box office, with daily earnings reaching more than 15.88 million yuan (around 2.45 million U.S. dollars), data from the China Movie Data Information Network showed Sunday.
As the 24th cinematic installment in the "Detective Conan" animation franchise, the film's plot revolves around the protagonist's investigation into a series of kidnapping incidents involving the opening ceremony of the World Sports Games in Tokyo and the launch of a cutting-edge bullet train in line with the event.
Chinese heart-warming film "Sister" ranked second, with another 13.36 million yuan added to its total box office of 825 million yuan.
It was followed by the re-released U.S. fantasy film "The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers," which raked in 12.2 million yuan on Saturday. Enditem
