Over 45 rockets were fired from Gaza into Israel on Monday evening, mostly landing in open areas on the border with Gaza in the south of the country, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) spokesman Jonathan Conricus said. The attack from Gaza, which also included six rockets fired toward Jerusalem, intensified an already tension in the region in recent days, as Palestinians in Jerusalem have confronted Israeli security forces in violent demonstrations in past weeks.
