BEIJING, May 19 (Xinhua) -- The following is a summary of published science and technology news of China.
SPACE STATION
China's space station core module Tianhe has recently completed its platform function tests and entered the orbit to rendezvous and dock with the Tianzhou-2 cargo spacecraft, according to the China Manned Space Agency (CMSA) on Tuesday.
The core module, which was sent into orbit on April 29, has recently completed platform function tests for rendezvous and docking, astronaut stay and the mechanical arms, as well as in-orbit performance checks for space application project equipment.
SEAWATER BATTERY CATALYST
Chinese researchers from Tianjin University have designed a high-performance catalyst for seawater batteries operating in deep-sea and lean-oxygen environments.
The researchers reported a microwave-assisted heating method and achieved the ultrafast synthesis of a high-activity catalyst with a strong oxygenophilic interface.
COSMIC ACCELERATORS
Chinese scientists have detected a dozen ultra-high-energy (UHE) cosmic accelerators within the Milky Way, a find that could overturn humanity's understanding of the galaxy. It could help reveal the origin of cosmic rays, which have puzzled scientists for a century.
The findings were based on the observations of China's Large High Altitude Air Shower Observatory (LHAASO), one of the country's key national science and technology infrastructure facilities, which is under construction in Daocheng in southwest China's Sichuan Province.
SATELLITE NAVIGATION
The total output value of China's satellite navigation and location services industry reached 403.3 billion yuan (about 62.75 billion U.S. dollars) in 2020, up 16.9 percent from the previous year, according to an annual report.
The industry's core sectors, which are directly related to the development and application of satellite navigation technology, include chip, device, algorithm, software, navigation data, terminal equipment and infrastructure. Enditem
