SHANGHAI, May 21 (Xinhua) -- 35 racehorses originally from the Netherlands have arrived by air at Shanghai Pudong International Airport ahead of China's 14th National Games, Shanghai Customs announced on Friday.
So far, airport customs have completed the clearance of a total of 144 horses to compete in the Games.
After the customs' inspection, the horses will be transported to the designated quarantine site for a 30-day observation.
At the airport, customs officers scanned the chips designed for each horse to confirm their identity and ensured that they match the overseas quarantine certificate. Experts specialized in animal and plant quarantine measured the temperature of the horses and checked their state of health.
The horses will appear in equestrian events and the modern pentathlon at the National Games. Enditem
