On May 23, 1981, the world's last seven wild crested ibises were found in Yangxian County. Believed to have existed for over 60 million years, the crested ibis, known as "the Oriental gem," is one of the oldest bird species in the world. The crested ibis was once thought to be extinct, yet its population has undergone a miraculous revival thanks to decades of conservation efforts.
