RAMALLAH, June 10 (Xinhua) -- Palestine condemned Thursday the killing of three Palestinians, including two security officers, by Israeli soldiers in the northern West Bank city of Jenin.

Palestinian presidential spokesman Nabil Abu Rudeineh said in a statement that the Palestinian presidency condemns Israel for the escalating violence and killing of the three men.

"The Israeli occupation practices and ongoing violations of our people's rights, including the daily killing and assaults are a clear violation of international law that leads to dangerous tension," he said.

Abu Rudeineh called on the international community to ensure protection for the Palestinian people.

On Thursday, Palestinian sources said that an Israeli army force stormed the city of Jenin and shot dead three Palestinians, including two Palestinian security offices and a third one who was imprisoned in an Israeli jail.

Meanwhile, the Israeli media reported that two Palestinian security officers were killed in a trade of fire with an Israeli army force in Jenin that entered the city to arrest wanted Palestinians.

The report also said that Jamil al-Amouri, a resident of Jenin, was shot dead in a separate incident when Israeli soldiers opened fire on his car in the city. Another Palestinian with him in the car was seriously injured.

Akram Rajoub, governor of Jenin, told Xinhua that what happened in the city "is a clear Israeli assault on the Palestinian authority and its security apparatuses," adding that "these crimes must immediately stop."

There has been no immediate Israeli army response to the incident and the killing of the three Palestinians. Enditem
