JAKARTA, June 17 (Xinhua) -- Indonesia's most active volcano Mount Merapi emitted hot clouds at 7:10 a.m. local time, up to as far as 2,000 meters to the southwest for 191 seconds, the Geological Disaster Technology Research and Development Center said on Thursday.

The 2,968-meter-high volcano located on the border between Yogyakarta and Central Java provinces is currently at the third-level of danger.

The center recommended that people avoid the falling lava and hot clouds that pass through rivers flowing from Merapi as far as 5 km from the crater as volcanic material ejection can reach a radius of 3 km from the summit if an explosive eruption occurs.

The government has closed tourism and mining activities by the rivers in disaster-prone areas within a radius of 5 km. Enditem
