WARSAW, July 10 (Xinhua) -- With less than seven months to go before the 2022 Winter Olympics, Polish ski jumping legend Adam Malysz expects his team to take home at least two medals.
One of the most titled ski jumpers in history who won four Olympic medals as well as four world titles, Malysz currently works as a sport director in the Polish Ski Association (PZN) and is in charge of the preparation of Poland's ski jumping team for the 2022 Olympics.
"If we talk about the organization, technologically China will show the best possible level. For us competing in that country will be a new experience," Malysz told Xinhua in a recent interview.
"I'm sure China will do the job. I know many people from Asia, they are very kind and helpful people.
"I hope as a team we will also do the job. For years we have been at a very high level. Our ski jumpers are one of the strongest, so the expectations will be high. We know very well that we are able to win medals," added the 43-year old.
The leader of Poland's team Kamil Stoch is considered one of the favorites to take gold in Beijing.
"He is an outstanding athlete, who won so many competitions. A lot of things are still ahead of him and all eyes are on Kamil," said Malysz.
"However, Stoch is not alone as we have a strong team with Piotr Zyla, Dawid Kubacki and some young talented ski jumpers, who can battle. I hope not only Kamil will fight for the medals in Beijing, the others are also able to do that.
"However, it's hard to predict anything. Maybe in the last time, Eisenbichler and Granerud were the most competitive rivals for Stoch, but at the world championship, Zyla and Geiger achieved success. So the results in the major events are unpredictable," he added.
"In Beijing we want to win at least two medals. In the past, we returned to Poland from the Olympics with that result. It would be a stunning scenario for us," the Polish legend concluded. Enditem
