KAMPALA, July 27 (Xinhua) -- Uganda on Tuesday re-appointed Micho Sredojevic as head coach of the country's national football team.
"Federation of Uganda Football Associations hereby announces that Sredojevic has been appointed head coach of the Uganda Cranes on a three-year renewable contract effective August 1," said the country's football governing body.
The Serbian resigned as head coach of the Zambian national team after a poor performance at the COSAFA tournament in South Africa.
He has also taken charge of the national team of Rwanda, as well as club sides SC Villa (Uganda), Young Africans (Tanzania), Al Hilal (Sudan), Orlando Pirates (South Africa) and Zamalek (Egypt), among others.
Micho previously coached Uganda from 2013 to 2017, where his greatest achievement was leading the national team to its first Africa Cup of Nations after 38 years of waiting.
The new coach is expected to start the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifying campaign, which kicks off in September. Uganda is grouped in Pool S alongside Mali, Kenya and Rwanda. Enditem
