DAMASCUS, Aug. 4 (Xinhua) -- An explosion targeting a military bus took place in Syria's capital here on Wednesday morning, leaving an unknown number of casualties, state news agency SANA reported.
The bus was detonated at the Masaken al-Haras area, a neighborhood housing military personnel in northwestern Damascus. While SANA has yet to give further details, people in the area said they heard the heavy explosion and saw thick columns of smoke rising.
A witness in the area told Xinhua that paramedics were removing charred bodies from the bus.
Online photos posted by passers-by showed a badly burnt bus and heavy smoke in the area.
Meanwhile, an unofficial source in the area told Xinhua that the explosion was caused by an explosive device attached to the bottom of the bus. Enditem
