Singapore reports 72 new COVID-19 cases

SINGAPORE, Aug. 9 (Xinhua) -- Singapore's Ministry of Health (MOH) reported 72 new COVID-19 cases on Monday, bringing the total tally in the country to 65,836.

The new infections included 69 locally transmitted cases, 39 are linked to previous cases, and have already been placed on quarantine; ten are linked to previous cases and were detected through surveillance; 20 are currently unlinked.

There were three imported cases, who had already been placed on Stay-Home Notice (SHN) or isolated upon arrival in Singapore. One was detected upon arrival in Singapore, while two developed the illness during SHN or isolation.

A total of 527 cases are currently warded in the hospital. Most are well and under observation. There are currently 35 cases of serious illness requiring oxygen supplementation, and ten in critical condition in the intensive care unit (ICU).

In total, Singapore had administered a total of 8,103,735 doses of COVID-19 vaccines under the national vaccination programme, covering 4,367,061 individuals, with 3,862,510 individuals having completed the full vaccination regimen. Enditem
