NAIROBI, Sept. 3 (Xinhua) -- Kenya is scheduled to host the 12th commonwealth women's affairs ministers meeting later in September, organizers said in a statement.

The two-day meeting which kicks off on Sept. 19 in Nairobi will bring together ministers for gender and women's affairs to review and appraise the progress towards achieving the commonwealth's four priorities on gender equality, sustainable development goal five, and other related national and regional commitments.

"It will be an opportunity to transform global commitments, words and aspirations expressed by leaders into concrete action towards accelerating gender equality for sustainable development. The meeting will be returning to Nairobi where the first assembly was held in 1985," the Commonwealth secretariat said in a statement issued on Monday evening.

The conference will focus on the commonwealth's four priorities for gender equality and women's empowerment, namely women in leadership, women's economic empowerment, ending violence against women and girls, and gender and climate change.
