Nokia Lumia 930: The First Flagship for Windows Phone 8.1
Nokia just announced the first phone for Windows Phone 8.1. Meet the Nokia Lumia 930. It'll be available in starting in June for about $600 before carrier subsidies. Think of this as theLumia Icon for the whole world—except the United States.
The Lumia 930 has a 1080p 5-inch screen. It looks like a Lumia in the more recent tradition with hard-edged sides and a slightly-rounded colorful back. Under-the-hood, it's got 2.2 GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor, 32GB of internal storage, and 2GB of RAM. It sports a familiar 20 megapixel PureView camera, powered by Nokia's excellent suite of photography apps.
Nokia CEO Stephen Elop made it clear that the Lumia 930 would hit Europe, and appears Nokia's strategy for the United States will focus on new Lumia devices like the recently releasedIcon—indeed, the phone has nearly identical specs. Additionally, Nokia made it clear that all Nokia Lumia phones would be getting Windows Phone 8.1 this summer, which matches the timing for this release. No surprises there.
