Delicate feather integrated with local Yi embroidery art has become a pivot to raise the income of people of Yi ethic group in SW China.
SHIPING, Aug. 8, 2019 (Xinhua) -- Longpeng Township, which is located to the south of Kunming, capital of southwest China's Yunnan Province, is home to some artists of Yi embroidery. Zhang Hua is one of them.
Zhang, of Yi ethnic group, is interested in Yi embroidery from a very young age and has begun to learn feather patchwork making since 2009.
In 2016, she founded a studio to help local women learn embroidery and feather art for free. Then with the support of the local government, she organized a cooperative specializing feather art to boost locals' income and local economy.
