HONG KONG, Sept. 26 (Xinhua) -- Hong Kong's Center for Health Protection reported no new local COVID-19 infections on Saturday, marking the second zero daily increase since the third wave of the epidemic started in early July.

One imported case was reported though, bringing the total number of confirmed cases to 5,059.

Hong Kong saw its first zero daily increase on Sept. 15, followed by single-digit increases for 10 days.

Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) Carrie Lam said Friday that after a hard-fought battle of more than two months, Hong Kong has basically contained the third wave of the COVID-19 outbreak.

According to Hong Kong's Hospital Authority, 149 patients are still being hospitalized, including 11 in critical condition. Enditem
