HEFEI, Nov. 20 (Xinhua) -- The 2020 World Conference on Display Industry kicked off Friday to strengthen international exchanges and boost confidence in the industry amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

Themed "Display Adorns the World, Display Colors Our Life," the two-day event, being held in Hefei, east China's Anhui Province, includes an opening ceremony, a main forum and eight parallel forums.

Five global industry associations, including the China Optics and Optoelectronics Manufactures Association LCB, the Korea Display Industry Association and the Semiconductor Equipment Association of Japan, will launch a cooperation initiative to promote the development of the industry.

More than 20 global technology enterprises, including BOE Technology Group, Samsung (China) Investment and HTC, will showcase their latest innovative products, including OLED, mini-LED and AMOLED displays.

China will deepen international exchanges, encourage overseas display enterprises and advanced material and equipment suppliers to invest in the country, promote deeper cooperation between domestic and overseas capital, technology and talent, and foster a new paradigm of opening up and win-win cooperation, said Wang Zhijun, vice minister of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, at the opening ceremony.

In recent years, Anhui has been striving to create a cluster of innovative display enterprises with international competitiveness. The annual output value of the innovative display industry in the province has exceeded 100 billion yuan (around 15.2 billion U.S. dollars).

The conference is co-hosted by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and the provincial government of Anhui. Enditem
