KATHMANDU, Dec. 21 (Xinhua) -- China Foundation for Poverty Alleviation (CFPA) on Thursday distributed school bags and stationery to over 100 students in Nepal's quake-hit areas.

The Chinese organization made the donation to students from Bhim Dhunga Lower Secondary School in the outskirts of Kathmandu.

Rameshwar Luitel, Principal at Bhim Dhunga Lower Secondary School, told Xinhua, "Most of our students were affected by the devastating earthquake in 2015. We are very thankful to get the stationeries, which will help our children to continue their education."

"Despite of being inside the capital, this area is backward in terms of education, health and facilities. Thus, the school support program from Chinese side is very effective. We look forward for more assistance in the future," Keshav Prasad Pokharel, the locally elected leader told Xinhua.

The CFPA has planned to distribute around 5,000 bags to various schools across the country till mid 2018. The bag comprises notebooks, pens, geometry box and other stationary items.

"I am very happy to get this bag, I will use it well. Thank you China," Bashna Khadka, a student at Grade 4, told Xinhua after receiving the bag.

Besides the stationary support, the CFPA recently completed the construction of toilets for boys and girls students and a concrete water tank in the same school.

Meanwhile, CFPA also distributed woolen clothes to some 100 students from Majuwa Primary School in the same area.

China Foundation for Poverty Alleviation, which started works in Nepal right after the earthquake, has been focusing on health, education and community development programs.
