PARIS, Jan. 9 (Xinhua) -- A kosher store in France burned down on early Tuesday morning, sparking a new round of fears over anti-Semitism in the country.
The kosher grocery store in Creteil in the southern suburb of Paris caught fire around 4 to 5 a.m. on Tuesday.
No one was injured in the fire but the store suffered "severe damage," said local prosecutor Laure Beccuau, adding that the incident could be of criminal nature.
The store was vandalised with anti-Semitic graffiti a few days before the fire, local media reported.
The incident took place on the third anniversary of the 2015 attack in a Jewish supermarket in eastern Paris, in which a gunman killed four people.
Israel's ambassador to France Aliza Bin Noun called the fire a "shameful provocation" on her Twitter account.
"It proves the importance of continuing the fight against anti-Semitism," she said.
French police are investigating the case.
