RAMALLAH, Jan. 10 (Xinhua) -- Palestinian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Riad Malki on Wednesday blamed the U.S. over the new Israeli settlement plan in the West Bank, saying it gave Israel the green light for settlement activity.

Malki made the remarks in response to Israel's newly declared plan to build 1,285 settlement units in the West Bank.

The Israeli move comes as a result of the U.S. President Donald Trump's recognition of Jerusalem as Israel's capital, and the failure of the international community to hold Israel accountable for its acts, the minister said in a statement to the official Palestinian radio station (Voice of Palestine).

He mentioned that a meeting of Arab foreign ministers is scheduled to be held in Amman by the end of this month, to discuss the coming Arab moves in the aftermath of the U.S. move on Jerusalem.
