SINGAPORE, Jan. 17 (Xinhua) -- Republic of Singapore Air Force (RSAF) plans to begin celebrating its 50th anniversary at the Singapore Airshow 2018 in February, according to a media briefing on Wednesday.

The air force plans to put its assets and platforms on static display at the air show, which will be held from Feb. 6 to 11.

Singapore's President Halimah Yacob will officially launch the anniversary celebrations, which is called RSAF50, on Feb. 7 at the airshow, and unveil the commemorative 50th-anniversary-themed F-15SG aircraft.

Brigadier-General Kelvin Khong Boon Leong, Chairman of the RSAF50 steering committee, said the RSAF50 celebration event at the Singapore Airshow 2018 will feature RSAF50 pavilion, aircraft simulators, helicopter experiential flights, aerial display with two F-16Cs and one F-15SG aircrafts, and almost twice as many as RSAF assets on display compared to the Singapore Airshow 2016.

Other RSAF50 celebration events to be launched later this year include the aerial flypast comprising more than 20 RSAF flying assets after the National Day Parade in August.
