India's three states to hold elections in February

NEW DELHI, Jan. 18 (Xinhua) -- Three Indian states namely Tripura, Meghalaya and Nagaland will hold state elections in next month, the country's election commission announced on Thursday.

The elections will be held in Tripura on February 18, in Meghalaya and Nagaland on February 27. Results in all the three states will be announced on March 3, said sources in the Election Commission of India.

All the three states are located in the country's north-east. Besides the three, five more states, including Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Karnataka, Chhattisgarh, and Mizoram, are also to hold elections this year, before next year's general elections.
