VALLETTA, Jan. 19 (Xinhua) -- The Malta Union of Teachers (MUT) issued its members employed with the Malta College for Art, Science and Technology (MCAST) a list of directives on Friday which are set to start on Jan. 22.

Teachers are being asked to follow orders, including two hours of strike on Jan. 25 and 26.

The MUT is currently locked in talks with MCAST management over an agreement.

The Union said it submitted financial proposals to MCAST several weeks prior and observed all time-frames of the agreement.

The MUT is currently facing a backlash from its members after a sectoral agreement reached over increases for public school teachers were revealed to be significantly lower than previously announced.

Three of the union's executive members resigned after what teachers were led to believe was a 28 percent wage increase was discovered to have factored in an already agreed upon salary increase granted to all public service employees.
