BUDAPEST, Jan. 22 (Xinhua) -- Hungarian Olympic and Paralympic athletes took the oath here on Monday in the presence of the President of the Republic Janos Ader.

"The average age of the Hungarian Winter Olympic medals is over 67 years, and the last one is now 38 years old," Ader said.

"We are confident that with the splendid achievements of recent times of our short track skaters, this year we will not only enrich our experiences, but we will also rejuvenate the age of our medals as well," Ader added during the ceremony attended by several Hungarian Olympic medalists.

He also wished speedy recovery to Hungarian alpine skier Edit Miklos, a great Olympic hope for Hungary, who recently suffered a knee injury in Bad Kleinkirchheim, Austria.

Krisztian Kulcsar, the President of the Hungarian Olympic Committee, said, "the Olympic Games are a miracle, able to create legends and heroes."

"They are also able to sooth tensions and create peace from war," he underlined.

The Hungarian Olympic team will probably consist of the same 16 people who represented the country in Sochi four years ago.

The opening ceremony of the 2018 PyeongChang Winter Olympic Games will be held on Feb. 9.
