TRIPOLI, Jan. 30 (Xinhua) -- Libya's eastern-based House of Representatives, or the parliament, on Tuesday formed an investigation committee over the "offensive remarks" of its deputy on the Feb. 17, 2011 revolution.

"The head of the parliament has issued decision to form a three-member committee of inquiry to investigate MP Jaballah Shibani's comments, which were offensive to the revolution of Feb. 17," MP Mohammad Abdullah told Xinhua.

The results of the investigation would be presented next week by the committee, Abdullah said.

Shibani said during a parliament session on Monday that the Libyan 2011 uprising is a "disaster and catastrophe." The remarks angered some deputies.

The remarks also angered many Libyans on social media, who describe him as a "traitor."
