SKOPJE, Jan. 30 (Xinhua) -- The ministers of economy of Macedonia and Turkey Tuesday signed a deal to boost economic cooperation between the two countries.

According to the Macedonian Economic Ministry, the deal was adopted by the mixed committee of a free trade agreement between Macedonia and Turkey.

Most notably, the deal aims for an increase in exports of Macedonian goods to Turkey, according to a press statement.

The ministry noted the two ministers agreed to set up teams of experts tasked with modernizing the free trade agreement.

"It will allow for it to be harmonized with the rules of services of the World Trade Organization and it will pave the way for new negotiations in the agricultural and food sector in the interest of the business community, including investments," the statement said.

According to official figures, Turkey is in the top 10 trade partners of Macedonia.
