RAMALLAH, Feb. 6 (Xinhua) -- The Palestinian National Authority (PNA) formed Tuesday a ministerial committee to plan political, administrative, economic and security disengagement from Israel.

The PNA said in a statement after its weekly meeting held in Ramallah that the new committee will devise plans, surveys and studies that will lead to the disengagement from Israel.

It said another committee will be set up to consider replacing the Israeli currency shekel with another currency, and study the possibility of launching a Palestinian currency.

"Disengagement from Israel would include the dissolution of the 1994 Paris Economy Accords, and meeting the needs of establishing an independent Palestinian economy and getting rid of the obligatory engagement with Israel's economy," it added.

The Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) Executive Committee decided Saturday in a meeting chaired by Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas to implement the decisions of the PLO Central Council, which held a two-day meeting in January to discuss the response to the U.S. recognization of the disputed holy city of Jerusalem as Israeli capital.

One of the decisions was to sever ties with Israel and to suspend the recognition of the state of Israel, until the latter recognizes an independent state for the Palestinians on the territories that Israel has occupied since 1967.

U.S. President Donald Trump declared in December Jerusalem as the capital of Israel, in a move that has infuriated the Palestinians, who has rejected the U.S. as the major mediator in the Israeli-Palestinian peace process.

To further enrage the Palestinians, the Trump administration recently ordered to cut the U.S. financial aid to a UN relief agency for the Palestinian refugees.
