AMMAN, March 1 (Xinhua) -- Jordan's lower house on Thursday condemned the military operations in Syria's Eastern Ghouta that resulted in the death of scores of civilians, state-run Petra news agency reported.

Targeting civilians will only bring more destruction and chaos and fuel extremism, violence and revenge, the lower house said in a statement.

It also highlighted the need to reach a political solution to Syria's crisis and protect its unity and territorial integrity to end the suffering of people.

The killings of children, women and the helpless in Syria would only worsen the situation and undermine efforts to find a solution for Syria, it added.

Meanwhile, the Jordanian lower house urged all fighting groups in Syria to stop violence, and called on all powers to stop interfering in the affairs of Syria.
