BRUSSELS, March 2 (Xinhua) -- The fifth edition of Belgium's Chocolate Fair started Friday in this capital and brought together over 130 participants -- chocolatiers, pastry chefs, confectioners, designers and cocoa experts.

"Chocolate and Cocoa: The Great Adventure", the theme of this new edition, looks to celebrate the creativity, passion and ingenuity of the chocolate profession.

Representatives from Peru, a producer country known for the quality and diversity of its cocoa trees, will be present to encapsulate the richness of expression and the subtleties of cocoa.

The international fair, where visitors can sample sweets, plays to Belgium's reputation as a leading chocolate maker. For over three days, 17 exceptional dresses will be presented to the public during a parade scheduled every day at 5 p.m. local time.

On the podium of the "Pastry Show", the greatest chefs and master chocolatiers will take turns every hour to present their best chocolate recipes and share their tips with the public.

This year's show will focus exclusively on concoctions made between beer and chocolate, two emblematic products rooted in Belgian culinary culture.

Peru, the only participating country that produces fine cocoas, has prepared a very rich program displaying some of its richly sourced cocoa beans and high quality chocolates.

The most promising creations on display at the 2018 fair will be revealed during a large exhibition of Easter eggs at the closing ceremony.
