BERLIN, Mar. 2 (Xinhua) -- Werder Bremen came from two goals down to grab a two-all draw against Borussia Monchengladbach at the opener of the 25th round in Bundesliga on Friday.

Second-half goals from Thomas Delaney and substitute Aron Johansson were enough to snatch one point on the road at Monchengladbach, who missed the second win in row.

The "Foals" ensured a fairy-tale start into the encounter though as Denis Zakaria broke the deadlock with just five minutes after slotting home from inside the box into the far post corner.

Bremen needed some time to gain a foothold into the game as Ludwig Augustinsson worked out the first chance for the "Green-Whites" but Jannik Vestergaard blocked his shot on target in 16th minute.

The visitors came to another chance eight minutes later as Ishak Belfodil tested Monchengladbach goalkeeper Yann Sommer.

However, the hosts doubled the lead against the run of the game after Niklas Moisander deflected Zakaria's effort into the wrong goal to make their life more difficult with 33 minutes played.

After the restart, Bremen came out on the front foot and reduced the arrears when Max Kruse's corner kick found Thomas Delaney, who headed home to make it 2-1 on the scoreboards in the 59th minute.

Bremen gained momentum and should have leveled the scores in the 62nd minute but Monchengladbach goalkeeper Yann Sommer defused Aron Johansson's hammer moments later.

The hosts remained dangerous but they lacked in accuracy to kill the game ahead of time as Raul Bobadilla squandered a promising chance from close range.

Bremen were not done with the scoring and shocked the hosts with the late equalizer in the 78th minute as Johansson poked home to secure a stalemate on the road.

With the result, 14th placed Werder Bremen increased their gap to the drop zone to three points whereas Monchengladbach stay on the 7th place for the moment.

The following fixtures are scheduled for Saturday: third placed Schalke host Hertha Berlin, Eintracht Frankfurt face newly promoted Hannover, Augsburg see Hoffenheim, relegation threated Hamburg encounter Mainz, Wolfsburg clash with Bayer Leverkusen and Leipzig take on runner up Borussia Dortmund.
